A decidedly New Age, creative, spiritual-seeking type New Mexico woman marries a hard-boiled, cynical, atheistic, Scottish cop. Why, some ask? Considering that this courtship took place via Internet correspondence from Scotland to New Mexico — first through a message board of widow/widowers, then through emails, telephone calls and finally in-person pond-hopping visits, most of my friends and friends of Green Phoenix Productions have not yet had the pleasure of meeting my new husband, Robert W McCallum. Geography being what it is, it could be years before they do.
I wondered how I could share this critical part of my new life with my community? Since I first got to know him in a cyber way — to appreciate his writing voice, his sharp wit and unique perspective on life — I thought the best way to share him with you all would also be in cyberland. So I have invited him into this nest of eclectic artists, writers, musicians, spiritual seekers and cultural mavericks to share HIS viewpoint from time to time. This is his page, his view of his country and the universe.
    Friends & family . . . meet Bob.

A Note From Bob . . .
I have been variously described. When people describe me in pleasant and positive terms to my face I check their eyes for signs of a possible squint only to discover that they are looking at and addressing me. What inept liars they are! But now I have been described as a "hard-boiled egg". I looked in the mirror. I look nothing like an egg, hard boiled or otherwise and certainly not hyphenated.

Cynical I may be, but it is a true cynicism and not affected, after thirty years in the police force I can say aye, right! when told a transparent whopper. What is more dismaying is the teller has convinced their self that I believe them.

If someone tells me the time, I check the calendar.

I have an insatiable thirst for current affairs, especially politics and economics; I have an obsession with technology and its applications; fractals fascinate me. I dislike decoration, functionality is all. If it has no practical purpose, lose it.

So there you have it: one real boring bastard.
