"black-winged night into the bosom of Erebus dark and deep
laid a wind-born egg, and as the seasons rolled,
forth sprang Love, the longed-for, shining, with wings of gold."

—Aristophanes, "The Birds" 414 B.C.E.

Our Mission
Welcome, new friend of the Green Phoenix! From the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico — and from under the shadow of Castle Stirling, Scotland — two Lands of Enchantment — we are here to encourage you to keep creating in order to counteract the destructive forces on the planet. We are here to ask you to do what you love and love what you do. We believe that’s why you are here.

Who We Are
We are writers, artists, musicians and spiritual seekers of all flavours, based in New Mexico and Scotland, but living in the Universe. We have ties to all things Celtic.

How We Began — Where We've Come . . .
We are the nurturing and regenerative force that came out of the loss of our dear Rick Allen, Warrior Poet, Celtic scholar, martial artist, spiritual seeker, teacher, gifted hypnotherapist, husband, father and friend. (Open our Reading Room and Inconstant Bard eggs for more on Rick Allen’s story.)

Rick Allen’s widow, Michelle Miller Allen, founded Green Phoenix Productions (GPP) after his death in August, 2002, to distribute his poetry CD and help market her own books. From there the company has expanded to include other products and artisans, and the production and marketing of Synchronicity (wearable meditations of heart, courage and healing). In 2007 Green Phoenix Productions also became an imprint of Amador Publishers, with its first offering, LAST OF THE NICE GIRLS, A Memoir by Elizabeth McBride. Future publications will focus on memoir, autobiography, healing and visionary fiction.

The Miller Allen Philosophy
Rick Allen’s philosophy, during his final year, was that the best way to fight the killing cancer was NOT to allow it to kill our creative spirit. Manifested through the life-affirming archetypal image of the Green Man (to whom the Miller Allen clan is very partial), morphed with the regenerative Phoenix — and the memory of the lucky green malachite egg handed down from his father, which Rick always carried in his pocket during stressful times — Green Phoenix Productions was born. Thanks to Duane Cash of Di Lai Graphics, in 2002 our vision became visual and virtual reality.

As of January 2006, our new Web Manager/Designer is Stone Toad Graphics, the company owned by Rita Bates, Rick Allen’s sister, who has taken us on as a labour of love in the truest sense. We are grateful for the original work done by Di Lai Graphics and wish Duane Cash all success in his artistic ventures. And we are grateful to Stone Toad Graphics for picking up the cyber torch to keep us going.

If there is one thing we have learned from Rick Allen, it is that there is precious little time to pursue our creative dreams, to give to the world from the wealth that is within our own hearts, and that merely "earning a living" should never be a full-time substitute for doing what you love and do well.

Our Offerings
Please take a look at our products and services, tour our photae gallery and reading room, visit our friends’ incredible links, come back and see us again. We will continue to have new things to share. Please let us know what YOU are creating. We have collaborative tendencies and are open to creative dialogue and information-sharing.

Follow your dreams. That’s the message we’re getting.
